Your
LP&L Electric Meter Location
If you live in what is typically referred to as a single family
residential home, you can find the meter on the back of your house or in
the alley or other public thoroughfare. In some instances, the
electric lines that service your home or business maybe be located
overhead, allowing you to find LP&L's primary distribution lines that
will branch off into a secondary line attached to your home or
business. The meter should be at the end of the this line. This may
also be a good time for you to a take a look at any tree limbs or
vegetation that is or might come into contact with the LP&L lines. If
you do have trees or vegetation in or coming near the lines please call
a professional to remove the tree limbs or vegetation, to help LP&L
ensure you maintain the reliable electric service you expect as a
customer of LP&L. Be carefully never to touch or go near
any electric line with anything for your safety.
If
you live in other places such as duplexes, apartments or are looking for
your meter at your business, finding the meter may take a little more
effort and once you do, it maybe located with a lot of other electric
meters making finding yours difficult. If this is the case, you
may have to ask the property owner to help you determine which meter is
yours. Please remember to never touch the meter for your
safety. In most instances, you should be able to read your meter
from a distance, an LP&L employee does every month. If you can't,
remember that the LP&L employee reading your meter probably can't either
and you should call a professional to help you make it visible from a
public thoroughfare or right-of-way, like an alley as soon as possible.

Your LP&L
Electric Meter
Your LP&L electric meter measures the amount of electricity you use in
kilowatt-hours. As the electric current enters your home or business
through the meter. In most cases, dials on your meter turn to show
the electric usage, however you find a digital meter and the numbers
will be clearly visible.
How
To Read
Your LP&L Electric Meter
Most meters have five dials, while some have four. Every other dial
moves counterclockwise. The reading for the five-dial meter below would
be 15,964. The reading for the four-dial meter below would be 5,964.

When the pointer
is between two numbers, you should record the lower of the two numbers.
When the pointer
is directly on a number (see above, the second dial from the left), look
at the dial to the immediate right. If the pointer on the right-side
dial has passed "0," then write down the number the pointer is on. If
the pointer on the right-side dial has not passed "0," write down the
next lowest number on the dial you are recording.
To determine usage
for a period of time, subtract your previous reading from the new
reading.
Your City Of Lubbock Water Meter
Your City of Lubbock water meter measures the amount of water passing through your
service line onto your property. This measure is in gallons. The water
meter is usually located in a small plastic or metal box buried in the ground just
outside the property line of your front yard or alley.
How
To Read
Your Water Meter
As water passes through the meter, the meter's dial hand will rotate
clockwise. Each time it makes a complete rotation, the register will
increase by one. To get the latest reading, read the register from left
to right.
