Question:
What is Electric Budget Billing?
Answer:
Budget billing
is a program that allows a customer to pay a specified electrical amount each
month instead
of paying their actual billed amount.
This eliminates the seasonally high bills that tend to
occur during the summer or winter months. Water and sewer services
are not available for the Budget Billing Program.
Question:
Who
is eligible for Electric Budget Billing?
Answer:
a. Residential customers only. Cannot be a commercial or master summary
account (multiple locations on one bill statement).
b. Residential customers that have a minimum of 12 months history at
the current residence.
c. Residential customers that do not have a past due balance. Customers
cannot be on budget billing and a payment arrangement at the same time
Question:
How
does Electric Budget Billing work?
Answer:
A budget amount is
calculated at the electric service level based upon the previous twelve months
billing
period. The monthly budget amount is the average
monthly charge during this period of time.
Every October, the budget amount will be recalculated based on the
most recent twelve-month history of actual usage. The budget amount
paid will be compared to the actual consumption during the previous
budget period then the difference is added / subtracted to the budget
bill amount for the next year. The new budget amount will become effective
November 1st.
The budget program will automatically remove services from the budget
program that are terminated or become delinquent in payment.
Question:
Will
my LPL utility statement look different?
Answer:
The billing statement will display the actual dollars for each service
and a total actual amount due as well as a total budget amount due.
The budget amount due is the amount the customer is required to pay
and will be reflected net and gross amounts on the
statement.
Question:
When
can I enroll in the Electric Budget Billing program?
Answer:
Customers can enroll
in the electric budget billing program at any time as long as the eligibility
requirements are satisfied.
Question:
Can
I terminate from the electric budget billing program and continue my utility
service with LPL?
Answer:
Yes, customers can
contact the LPL Business Office and request removal from the
electric budget billing
program during normal business hours. The next
month’s utility statement will display the actual account
balance as a result of the difference in the budget versus
actual dollars.
Question:
What
happens if I overpay my monthly budget amount?
Answer:
The budget program will
automatically lower the next month’s
budget amount by the overpayment. Example: January’s budget
amount is $75.00 dollars & customer pays $100.00 dollars
or $25.00 dollar overpayment. February’s statement for
the budget amount will be $50.00 dollars. The following months
will reflect a
budget amount
of $75.00 dollars as long as no over payment has been made.
Question:
What
happens if I underpay my monthly budget amount?
Answer:
The budget program
will automatically remove services from budget billing that are unpaid
as of the late payment date. All accounts that are
past due / delinquent will be removed from the budget billing
program.
Question:
Can
I cancel my electric budget billing and establish a payment arrangement?
Answer:
Customers on electric budget
billing can be removed at any time. The next month’s
statement will reflect a balance that includes the budget variance
(The difference between the actual charges and the budget amount
charged.)
The payment arrangement can be setup on the new balance after the budget
variance has been applied to the account.
