Texas PUC approves sale of Xcel Energy's Lubbock System to LP&L
The Public Utility Commission of Texas today approved the sale of Xcel
Energy’s distribution system in Lubbock to Lubbock Power & Light Co.
(LP&L), which moves the proposed sale one more step toward a final
closing.
The sale, announced in November 2009, is scheduled to close in late
October. At that time, all retail customers of Xcel Energy in will be
transferred to LP&L. Xcel Energy will continue to sell wholesale power
to LP&L.
The company is still awaiting approval for the sale from the New Mexico
Public Regulation Commission, and that decision is expected by the end
of September.
