For Immediate Release
October 22, 2010
Lubbock Power & Light to Close Business Operations on
October 29
(Lubbock, TX)
– In anticipation of receiving
nearly 24,000 new electric customers, LP&L will close the LP&L Main
Business Office located at 1301 Broadway and the LP&L Branch Office
located at 5201 82nd Street
on Friday, October 29, 2010.
Normal business hours at both locations will resume Monday, November 1
at 8 a.m.
Chris
Sims, LP&L Public Information Officer, says that the closing is
necessary in order to ensure new customers’ account information
accurately merges and validates into LP&L’s billing system and to allow
for meter reading to take place over the weekend.
Customers’ ability to pay their bill will also be limited on
Friday, October 29, 2010 to registered users of Pay LP&L, the free
online credit card and e-check payment center at lpandl.com, and LP&L’s
Pay By Phone option, which is accessible at (806) 775-3409.
In
addition to closing the business offices, LP&L will work to ensure
billing accuracy by reading all new customers’ electric meters on
Saturday, October 30, 2010 and Sunday, October 31, 2010.
LP&L employees will be working
throughout Lubbock
over the weekend to read all new customers’ electric meters from sunrise
to sunset each day.
Customers
experiencing non-billing related emergencies regarding their LP&L and
City of Lubbock Utilities service should call (806) 775-2555 for
electric emergencies and (806) 775-2588 for City of Lubbock Utilities emergencies.
